Terms of Use
The house rules.
Last updated July 7, 2026 · Palate beta
These terms cover your use of the Palate beta. Palate is an early-stage project built and run by one person, offered free while it's in beta. By using it, you agree to what's below — written plainly, but binding.
The heart of it: this is experimental software that may change, break, or reset; the recipes and nutrition figures are for information only; and you keep ownership of what you paste and create.
This is a beta
Palate is under active development. It may change, have bugs, go offline, lose features, or be reset without notice, and stored data may be wiped in the process. Don't rely on it as your only record of anything you care about.
Who can use it
The beta is offered to invited testers. You must be at least 13 years old to use Palate. If you sign in, you're responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens under it.
Acceptable use
Use Palate for cooking and exploring your taste. Please don't:
- Attack, probe, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the app or its engine.
- Upload or paste content that's unlawful, infringing, or that you don't have the right to share.
- Upload others' private information, or content that's harmful or abusive.
- Use the app to break the law or to harm others.
Your content, and who owns it
You own the recipes you paste or create and the photos you upload — Palate does not claim ownership of them. By using the app, you give Palate permission to store and process that content only as needed to run the service for you: analyzing a pasted recipe to draw its X-ray, generating your recommendations, and saving your logs and photos to your account. We don't sell your content or use it for advertising.
Palate's content
The app, the flavor engine, the recipe corpus, the visual design, and the Palate name and mark belong to Palate (or are used under license). They're provided for your personal use in the beta — please don't copy, resell, or redistribute them.
Not professional advice
Palate's flavor analysis, recommendations, and any nutrition or macro figures are informational only and may be inaccurate or incomplete. They are not dietary, nutritional, medical, or allergen advice. Always check ingredients yourself for allergies or dietary needs, and consult a qualified professional for health decisions.
No warranty
Palate is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise it will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. You use it at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Palate and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the beta. This is a free, experimental service offered in good faith.
Ending access
We may suspend or end access to the beta at any time, including if these terms are broken. You can stop using Palate whenever you like, and you can request that your account and data be deleted — see Deleting your data.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be set by the founder before general release], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts located there.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the beta evolves. If a change is significant, we'll let testers know. Continuing to use Palate after an update means you accept the revised terms.
